Memories of a dear friend

Where to begin? Chris is, well,....she is interesting in a crazy sort of way. In some ways, Kierstyn reminds me of Chris--so full of life, so social, so LOUD--pretty much the polar opposite of me. I guess if opposites attract, that's why Chris and I were such good friends. Chris and I have been friends forever it seems. We knew each other in elementary school, played on travel soccer teams together, spent all our free time in High School together,...heck, we even went to the same college! I wanted to dig up some really scary pictures from Ms. Morton's 6th grade but that album must still be at my mom's....This one'll have to do. I think this was our Junior year, circa 1992. It's funny--looking at the picture of us on yesterday's post, I don't think we've really changed all that much. Except we don't wear white pantyhose anymore. Chris and I were best friends in High School. We took photography class and Childcare class together, rode around countless hours in that Chevy Cavalier (is that what kind it was?), soccer trips out the wazoo,...we were there for each other through boyfriend breakups and prom mishaps, took trips to Birmingham, Ootelwah, and Destin (for Senior trip), and oh, I can't forget writing our New Years Resolutions together every year--they are so funny to look back on now! We were both nominated for Homecoming Queen our Senior year. Don't we look pretty?

Here we are at our HS graduation. We both went to UT Martin for college (I stayed 2 years before transferring; she graduated from there). We each had our own circle of friends but we stayed friends as well. Somehow no matter where we've lived, we've managed to keep in touch and I love to get together when we're both in the 'Boro. Chris is a wonderful friend and a wonderful mom. My life has been blessed by having her in it.

OH MY GOODNESS!! You look the exact same! That is kind of nauseating you know, but I love you enough to still like you. :) And I always thought your K looks just like you, but it's really Kyler that's your twin. SO cute to see that.

And how special close and lasting friendships are! Now I feel the need to make a call... Thank you.

"They" say you only have one, maybe two, real friends in life and Chris is a good one to have and keep. Thanks for the trip down memory lane of what I remember. So fun ~ makes me laugh and teary at the same time. You have certainly exceeded growing old (NOT REAL OLD, yet) gracefully. Beautiful friendship, beautiful girls!!!!!!

It takes a good friend to be a good friend. That is great that you BOTH have taken the time and effort to stay friends after so many years!
