Stealing recipes?

"Thou shalt not steal." Yeah, yeah. I know that is one of the 10 commandments, but surely God wasn't referring to recipes, right? As I have lamented to many of you recently, I have been in a cooking funk. I just couldn't think of anything to cook for my family, was tired of the same 'ole, same 'ole, and needed HELP! Well thank goodness for friends because you all have saved me from the depths of my cooking woes. And just in case I haven't thanked you already, here is a post just for you to say THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

It all started with Alisha and her fabulous cookie dough idea. (Actually I guess the thanks should go to Alisha's mom since Alisha stole it from her mom.) Thanks to Alisha (& her mom) I now have a freezer stocked full of cookie dough. Or I did have a freezer stocked full of cookie dough until my hubby and children discovered the frozen balls of goodness and helped themselves to many an after-dinner treat of "cookie balls".....anyways, I LOVE this idea! (and I have since re-stocked---but I'm not telling anyone where in the depths of my freezer they are hiding!)

Next came Taco Soup (she calls it Sante Fe Soup) from my friend Dana. I know, we've all had Taco Soup before. But people, I'm telling you, this is the best recipe ever! She's not lying. Look, I even took a picture!!! YUM! YUM! YUM! This will definitely be on the menu all fall/winter long!

I also tried Alisha's Buttermilk Pancakes (Yum-O!) and Easy Tomato Baked Chicken (sorry, no pictures) and they were both delicious!

Oh, and I can't forget my bread post--thanks to Hope for making my life easier with this oh-so-simple bread recipe!

Last night I may have received the highest compliment ever--after dinner, Kelly said, "That was really good. Not like home-cooking good, it tasted like restaurant-good." The recipe for success was Dana's Spaghagna. (The only modification I would make is decreasing the nutmeg to 1 tsp.--it was too nutmeg-y for my taste.) I meant to take pictures of that, too, but I forgot. You'll just have to make it to see how yummy good it is!

And so now I have a little something of my own to share. One of our recently discovered favorites is a sandwich made on this bread:
Here are some other ideas from the packaging:

And this is just a plain old ham and cheese sandwich that Kyler likes to take for lunch:
But HERE is the recipe (without pictures again) of the best sandwich ever (in my humble opinion):
Oh, and no, I didn't come up with this all by myself (copying recipes is NOT stealing, I tell you) but I must give credit where credit is due. Recipe compliments of Brueggers (a favorite bagel/sandwich shop of mine).
Turkey Sandwich
Chive and onion cream cheese
sun dried tomato spread (I buy a jar of sun dried tomatoes--packaged in olive oil--and blend it all up and store in the refrigerator)
thin sliced turkey
cheese slices (I usually use Colby-jack but any kind would be good)
red onion slices
lettuce
That's it! Layer cream cheese on top. Sun dried tomato spread on bottom. Add turkey slices, lettuce, cheese, and onions. Talk about a good sandwich......and feel free to steal this one from me (I mean, from Brueggers)--you're gonna love it!
