My Day

I just had to write about the wonderful day I had. We spent the morning together as a family not doing anything much but being together while we did it. (Kelly was home for a day and half after being gone all last week and he left again this afternoon for another week--that's why the together time was so nice, even if we didn't really do anything.) This afternoon my kids played. They just played and played and played, pretending to be different people (teacher, mom, dad, husband, etc.) and "making lunch" for each other (yogurt and chocolate animal crackers--that counts, right?). I love it when they actually have the time (we seem to be too busy too often) to just play and especially when they play creatively and nicely. All this while I sat on the couch enjoying my book. :) I had to temporarily halt the "play time" so we could all go clean the office.....and they were such good helpers and really got along so well. We picked up a movie, came home to eat dinner, and snuggled up together to watch our movie. Don't you just love great days like that?!

That is my kind of day!! That is how our Saturdays go about 50% of the time. Boring to some... but peaceful to us.

By the way... Tonight I boiled carrots with potatoes for mashed potatoes and it turned out awesome. No, they didn't mash, but they were in little carrot bits in our mashed potatoes and it was just cool to know there was a little something extra. Thanks for the inspiration!
