We went to M'boro for the weekend....Chase was baptized and Ethan was blessed on Sat. We spent the afternoon at Grandma's house where the kids had a fun time playing with their worms. Trevin, Mia, and Kierstyn were at Grandma's. We went for a walk down the street and Mia found a worm in a puddle. She picked it up and brought it back to Grandma's house and put it in a jar with some dirt. While Grandma helped Trevin dig for his own worm, Kierstyn went inside to the computer and typed "www.what do worms eat?" A couple minutes later she revealed her findings to us: worms eat apples, corn, and pasta salad. I sliced some pieces of apple into all 3 of their worm homes (Kierstyn had a worm by now, too) and they picked out some corn from Grandma's bird seed. Mia named her worm Squiggly; so did Kierstyn. This is how Kierstyn spelled it: Squigily. Surprisingly enough, Trevin's worm is also named Squiggly. They have been enamored with their new "pets" all day. Squigily and Squiggly came back home to Alabama with us today. I wonder how long they'll live....
On the way home we drove through Lawrenceburg, TN, through the Amish community there. We weren't able to stop and buy anything since it was Sunday but we saw a lot of the Amish people outside and passed several of them in their horse and buggies. The kids were quite fascinated. Kierstyn was determined that she was going to become Amish....until we reminded her that if she was Amish there would be no cd players, no radios, no computer, and no tv. She changed her mind rather quickly. We all agreed it would be nice to live a simpler life though. Tonight when I was scratching Kyler's back when he went to bed he asked me, "Mom, was life harder when you were a kid?" I told him that life wasn't really harder; we had pretty much all the stuff we have now (dishwashers, tvs, etc.) except for computers.
