The Big Treehouse

We went to Iowa on vacation to visit my extended family. While we were there we went to see The Big Treehouse in Marshalltown. It is a 12-level, 6-story treehouse built in a maple tree. It's at a campground right off of the Lincoln Highway (the first coast-to-coast highway). This guy grew up there and started building the treehouse as a hobby 20 years ago. His 87-year-old grandma is the tour guide.

Kind of hard to see here, but it goes way up into that tree.

These are my cousins' kids (what does that make them to my kids?):And here is my aunt helping Kierstyn with a puzzle. The kids learned how to balance 6 nails on the head of 1.

We missed you but I LOVE the fact that your kids get this awesome experience ~ so we just had to start our own tradition and have our own parade ~ fun holiday! SO glad you are back on this side of the country, settling into your new home and taking time to post MORE pictures :>)

Wow! What a contraption - but looks like fun! Cute kids all around! As for the genealogy - their kids are 1st cousins 1 time removed to you so 2 times removed to the kids - there is no "cute" term for them - sorry, that is the genealogist in me creeping out!
