I've been putting it off for too long. It's time to get it down before I forget all the details!
Christmas Eve
I cooked, Kelly had to work, the kids played, and Grandma made sugar cookies with the kids. We had a smashing dinner (baked chicken, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, corn, oatmeal rolls, and Pumpkin Dump Cake for dessert) and then the kids opened their pjs. Trevin was a stinker and wouldn't wear his new pjs. Instead, he came downstairs in these cute pjs that used to be Kyler's once upon a time. Oh, well.We listened to MoTab on the tv and shooed the kids off to bed around 9. It took awhile but they finally crashed.
Christmas Morning
Wait, I should back up. We had quite a time deciding on sleeping arrangements for Christmas Eve. Kelly has this thing where he likes for the kids to come into our bedroom before they go see what Santa brought so we can all go out together (and capture their reactions with the camera). Problem is, the kids' bedrooms are all upstairs and our bedroom is downstairs--with the living room (and Christmas tree) positioned in between. What to do?! I suggested that we have a family sleepover in the playroom upstairs. You know, sleeping bags and blankets all over the floor. But Kelly and sleeping on the floor don't mix. Kelly suggested we leave a phone upstairs with the kids and have them call us when they were all awake. But I didn't trust them not to peek. In the end, Kierstyn and Grandma ended up sleeping in Kierstyn's room, the boys and I slept on the floor in the playroom, and Kelly enjoyed the comfort of our own bed (all to himself). Anyways, Christmas morning we got to sleep in til after 7:00--a new record in this house! Usually Kyler starts waking up at 4:00 and we make him wait til around 6:00 before we all get up. Kelly stationed himself in the living room in the all important role of photographer and I was the "blanket shield" as the kids came down the stairs. And here is their reaction..... look closely, you might even want to click on the pictures to enlarge. :)You see, Santa brought a Wii and they were all quite astounded, astonished, and amazed!
And here is our cute Santa......Santa who shaved his beard on Christmas Eve after all the rest of us had gone to sleep! And for some reason the cute Santa/photographer person thought it would be fun to take pictures of me and my mom boxing each other on the Wii.
And we've been playing the Wii and our new game, Blokus ever since. I wish Christmas vacation lasted all year!

LOVE the pictures and that is one cute Santa you have there! VERY shocked about the shaved beard. It's been awhile. I'm sure it was a suprise to all!!!
How fun! Do believe "Santa" has gotten cuter underneath that beard he had ~ hmm, could just be my opinion, but it's true ~ too cute! LOVE the surprised looks ~ thanks for posting pictures and all the exciting details ~ love this blogging more and more. Please keep it up in 2009 :>)
I love the musical beds...the blanket shield...and the kids' reactions!!! Classic!
I think my favorite is you throwing a serious right hook. Remind me to only play against you in bowling.
I was hoping to see the beard I am sure he can grow another by the time we get out there- How did Kelly the stickler for going in together end up in the bed by himself? Sneaky plan if you ask me. Next year-all the kids should sleep on the floor in your room. :)
I agree with MK about the sleeping arrangements. He gets it from Grand-Daddy about all going together, that's how we did it. But Kelly sure did get his way on this one, huh? So like MK said, next year all the kids on the floor in your room!
That is too funny!!!! I love it! The looks on everyone's faces is hillarious!!!
Looks like you had a great Christmas. Glad I'm not the only Mom with a pj routine & the need to capture the kids faces on film right away!! In the pic of you playing the Wii I caught a glimpse of pics of the boys above your mantle... they are great! Would you post a pic of your mantle so we can see it??? (I'm friends with Lindsey Roberts btw!!)
I love that you had to block the kids view with a blanket! Luckily our wall blocks ours, or we would have had to do the same thing. :) Have fun with your Wii!
