Tell me this gets easier....

I'm not quite sure how I ended up with a daughter. I just don't think I'm cut out for this job.

Conversation after school today: (as the kids pile into the car)
Kierstyn: This was probably the worst day of my life.
Me: What happened?
K: Today on the playground Thomas and Caleb crashed heads and Thomas got really hurt. He couldn't breathe. And I started crying because he was really hurt. I ran under the playground with Annie and we were both crying.........

This continues--literally--for 10 more minutes. I hear all about how Thomas got the breath knocked out of him and someone took him to the office ("no, Mom, it was really serious.") All the while, Kierstyn is CRYING! I mean, I know it's a good thing to be caring and compassionate but come on! The boy was fine. Apparently she really couldn't stop crying. The guidance counselor ended up taking her into the office just so she could see that Thomas was ok.

Oh, did I forget to mention the real reason Kierstyn was so distressed over this whole thing? Thomas is the boy she has a crush on.

Heaven help me!

Oh Boy! Do I completely relate! Kelsey is girl through and through....I think the hormones and monthly cycles begin about age 4 or 5. She cries at the funniest things. Her nightmares lately are about snowballs hurting her feelings. Also, Kelsey is in love with every boy in her class...in her school for that matter. And flirtatious...yikes. Even the missionaries come for dinner and she puts it all out there to show. Jeepers....don't know what I'll do in 10 years when she can date. Heck, in 4 to 5 years when those big blue eyes catch the attention of hormonal boys! At any rate....I understand. Good luck!!!! :)

Sorry, can't say it gets easier. You just get more variety. Mad tears, sad tears, tears of frustration, tears for no reason etc....

Hang in there. Being there now will most likely encourage her to come talk to you about the more serious issues later.

Oh Heavens! Maybe I should just stop at Heath so I don't chance having a girl. I've never wanted one and this just proves why. She is dramatic! Good luck with it all :)

We've just had a similar discussion with Caroline recently. She is 4. ??? We hope Kierstyn does well today. Please tell her we'll be thinking of her and look forward to hearing all about it tomorrow. :)

and just think your brother is going to get to deal with TWO girls, a wife, and a female dog!!!
just send kierstyn on over to our house we won't even notice one more female!!!
see, it could be worse all of your kids could have been girls. now you can be thankful you just have one!
