SCHOOL'S OUT!!!

Reflections on the school year.....

Kyler: I remember the Huntsville trip to the Space and Rocket Center. We got to ride any of the rides we wanted and we got to rock climb. I remember it from when we used to go there [when we lived in AL]. And I got to see the new part. Some of my best friends were Cordale, Eryck, Taz, Tori, Wil, Raven, and Haley. I like my new school because of the way we do things. I played the trumpet in the band. I really liked it. It was hard when I first started playing it. I learned about Civil War, Living Systems (flowers, cells, etc.), WWI and WWII, and the Solar System. My teachers were Ms. Woodlee, Mrs. Brownlee, and Mr. Huffstutler. I got to have a locker this year and be at the "Upper School" [grades 5-8].

Kierstyn: My teacher was Ms. Taliaferro. Two of my favorite things that we did in 2nd grade were 1. going to Atlanta [to a natural history museum] and 2. watching a 3-D ocean movie at the I-Max. We did a lot of fun stuff. When we were studying about dinosaurs we went on a fossil dig on Lookout Mountain. Our modules this year were: Japan, Native Americans, Oceans, and Dinosaurs. My favorite module was all of them! I was in the 2nd grade play. It was called Tide Pool Condos. I got a main part, Elizabeth. Except the bad thing was I was kind of a "bad guy" (but not really). I wanted to tear down the tide pools and build condos on the beach. I was also in the 2nd grade spelling bee. I won it! Some of my friends were Taylor, Annie, Jada, Oliver, Alec, and Anna.

Trevin: My Kindergarten teacher is Mrs. Locke. She is nice. My mom is the Assistant. Some of my friends are Emma, Ainsley, Zander, Xian, and Gracie. My modules were Community Helpers, Cultures (Mexico, China, Tahiti, & Kenya), Cycles (Seasons, Weather, etc.), and Animal Classifications. My favorite one was Animals. When we are done with our modules, we get to have Exhibit Night at the Lower School and the Upper School. Exhibit Night is fun! I liked all of my Related Arts classes--Music and P.E. and Art and Dance and Library except I didn't like Spanish. I learned in Kindergarten how to read even though I didn't know how to read before. I got to go to lots of places for Learning Expeditions--the Hunter [Museum of Art], the Aquarium, the Children's Museum, the African-American Museum, and the zoo.

Whew. What a year!
I feel smarter just reading about it.

3 and a half more days and we'll be done too...until it all starts again. ;)
