So as not to make you think I really deserve the title SuperMom or SuperAunt, we stayed home all day. Of course the kids didn't mind at all. In fact, I didn't see much of them. Their day was spent at the creek--catching a salamander, destroying a beaver dam (in order to let the water flow so they could have "boat races"), wading in the water, building mud castles, etc. They were seriously gone for hours (like, 3 or 4) at a time. The boys left early in the morning with a biscuit for breakfast in hand and didn't come home til lunchtime. I guess if they didn't get hungry, they'd never have come home! :) After lunch they spent a couple of hours in the garage making a "cage" for their salamander. Then they headed back to the creek again where Kelly and I had to finally go find them at 7:00 so we could eat dinner. I had lots of muddy clothes (and shoes) to wash last night but I was happy to--nothing like summer days spent in the muddy creek with some of your best pals!AND.....the (big) boys actually made it all night in the tent!!!!!! Well, they came in at 4:45 this morning when it rained and the tent was leaking. (They have tried before but always get scared and come inside.) I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact that Kelly offered them $20 if they would stay out there all night.
