Catching up is hard to do...starting with Scout Camp

We enjoyed our week "unplugged" immensely....well, ok, so I probably enjoyed it a little more than the kids but they all survived and it was nice to see what they did to fill their time (instead of playing ipods, the computer, or watching tv).

Monday we went to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid at the movie theater. It was cute. Kierstyn was busy crafting all week which made for a messy playroom but she was happy and I was happy, too. We cleaned out the game closet and found a few oldies but goodies....we've played Sorry, Uno, Little People Memory, Battleship, and I can't remember what else. I think Trevin read 4 Magic Tree House books and Kyler, of course, played Legos for hours. I worked on getting ready for Girls Camp. We also finally went to the community pool (not much else to do when it's 95+ degrees outside) and the kids had a great time. My mom came for a quick visit to watch the boys play baseball and we went out for donuts one morning (another thing checked off our list).

I think we'll have another week unplugged later this summer. :)

I hadn't looked at these pictures from Scout Camp until this morning. My reaction: "You slept in there?!" Let's just say I'm glad we have cabins at Girls Camp. :) Kyler had a really great time at camp aside from getting lost for an hour the first day. He earned his Swimming and First Aid merit badges and he's close to getting his Crafts merit badge...just a couple more baskets to weave, I think. He found out that shooting a rifle is hard. I'm grateful for all the older boys and his leaders who watched out for him. I think he would've stayed another week for sure.

An unplugged week! Sounds fabulous! I think I'll try it. Spencer is aching for a TV-less week so maybe I'll go for the gusto and see what we can accomplish! Thanks for a great idea? When is Camp? You'll be great! I'm going as the YW Pres this year....a different role, but still going. We'll see...
