"Home" by Kierstyn Meredith

I will go
To the place I’ve always dreamed of,
To the new house,
To the new place,
To Idaho

I will go
But I’ll miss home,
And go to a new one.
Where the snow falls hard against fences,
And the animals breathe heavily,
Covered in ice.

I’ll miss the trips
To my family’s history
All around this city.
To the Read House I’ve been,
Holds the key to my life,
And the future that my
Ancestors once built.

The many Saturdays I spent
Boating with the Wards,
Water splashing,
Waves crashing,
People boating everywhere.
Oh, I’ll miss that river,
And the rope-swing swaying back and forth
Hanging off of that tree.
I’ll never forget getting up on that wake board for the first time,
The smile shining brightly across my face.
Dipping and diving in the water,
Getting jerked off the tube,
Boating with my friends,
on the Tennessee River.

I’ll miss the picnics at Coolidge,
With the fountain,
With the field,
With the yummy shaved-ice.
Making memories with family and friends.

I will go
To the place I’ve always dreamed of,
To the new house,
To the new place,
To Idaho
