Chicago + St. Joseph, Michigan + Mama Mary comes to visit

Kelly and I ran away to Chicago/St. Joseph, MI for a few days in July.  It's always good to get away together.

Kelly just looooooves these shots! (Not really.)

He took me to this fancy schmancy restaurant where I had the 2nd best steak in my life and some fab-u-lous mashed potatoes.  Yum!

The view from our hotel room

This one was for Trev (whose middle name is Drake).

We shopped (well, walked) on Michigan Avenue and took a stroll down by Lake Michigan.  I still have the blisters to prove it!

Our last night in Chicago was fun, too.  We stayed near the airport and had to take the rental car back because our flight left so early the next morning.  We dropped off the car and ran a 5K back to the hotel. :)  Later we went to eat dinner and had the BIGGEST piece of carrot cake EVER for dessert.  (We only ate part of it.)

Kelly had quarterly review meetings with Whirlpool in Benton Harbor, MI, so we stayed on the beach in nearby St. Joseph.

Beautiful sunset
And while we were gone.....Mama Mary was so kind to come and stay with the kids.  They had a puzzle marathon and put together 4(!) puzzles while MM was here.
And of course there was a little shopping going on.....
Kierstyn got this outfit to wear when sings at the fair in a couple of weeks. (She's singing at the fair!)

Trevin got these new boots to wear to church.

And a new cowboy hat, too!

We are so grateful for Mama Mary!  Kelly and I were able to enjoy some time away together and the kids had SO MUCH FUN!  We were all sad to see her go.

Of course, we love the boots and hat!!! I am such a puzzle person... I have a nook upstairs that I want to turn into a sleeping nook with a daybed but I want to have a small table in there also so I can have a place where I don't have to move or put away an 'in progress' puzzle. When Shawn finds out about my plan, he may veto because I can be... ummmmm, well, obsessed when it comes to puzzles.

I love all the pictures!! Trevin's book make laugh. He is such a cutie. I am so glad y'all were able to get away- 1. because y'all needed it and 2. because it gave mom an excellent excuse to go out- she's been missing y'all like crazy!
